A single tear rolled down his cheek as he watched her burn, slowly fading away into nothing but ashes. Memories of life spent with her played in his mind like a movie and he wondered if the same happened with her.

Her voice was still so clear and fresh in his mind that it was hard for him to accept that she was leaving this world. Is this what she meant when she said it was time to say goodbye?

“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it. I’ll back off so you can live better.”

He choked, trying to keep his cool and his cheeks dry but it was impossible. Is this her idea of living better? Dropping down onto his knees, not being able to hold it in anymore, he screamed, he shouted, he yelled; the sky being his only witness to his never-ending ‘I love you’ and ‘please don’t go’.

Why are you leaving?
Why are you tossing me away?
If you were going to be like this
why did you love me in the first
place?

“Come back…” He begged, tears rolling down his cheeks uncontrollably now.

“Come back.”
